Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

RentKhata ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the RentKhata mobile application ("App"). If you have any questions, please contact us at support@valgravia.com.

1. Who We Are

RentKhata is operated by Shanu Kumawat, an individual sole proprietor trading as Valgravia, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India. The App is provided free of charge.

2. Offline-First Architecture

RentKhata is designed as an offline-first application. All data you enter into the App — including property details, tenant information, billing and payment records, Aadhaar records, documents, and photos — is stored locally on your device.

We do not have access to your data. We do not transmit, sync, or upload your personal or tenant data to any external servers.

Backups created by the App are local files that you export and control (for example, through your device's file picker). If you choose to save a backup into a cloud folder such as Google Drive, that is your choice — the App itself never uploads your data anywhere.

3. Information We Collect and Process

3.1 Data Stored on Your Device (Not Processed by Us)

Because RentKhata is offline-first, we do not collect tenant details, property details, billing or financial records, Aadhaar numbers, documents, or photos on our servers. These records remain entirely under your control on your device.

3.2 Analytics and Crash Reporting

To improve the stability, performance, and user experience of the App, we use third-party services provided by Google:

Important: These reports never contain names, phone numbers, addresses, Aadhaar numbers, ID documents, financial figures, or the content of anything you type into the App.

4. Consent and Your Choices

Where required by applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), we obtain your consent before analytics and crash reporting are enabled.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by turning off analytics in the App's Settings, or by emailing support@valgravia.com. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

5. Permissions

The App may request the following access on your device:

These permissions are used strictly for local App functionality. No data accessed through them is transmitted by the App.

6. Data Storage and Security

App data is stored in the App's private storage on your device. The local database is not encrypted at rest. We recommend enabling your device's screen lock and the App's optional biometric lock, and keeping your device's operating system updated.

Backups created by the App are files you export. Store them in a secure, separate location and never share them with third parties. You are solely responsible for securing your device and managing your backups.

7. Data Retention

8. Your Rights

Under the DPDP Act and other applicable laws, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email support@valgravia.com or grievance@valgravia.com. We respond to access, correction, and erasure requests within 30 days, and to grievances within 90 days, unless a shorter period applies.

Because the App has no accounts and App data never leaves your device, erasure of App data is achieved by deleting the App's data or uninstalling the App (after exporting any backups you wish to keep).

9. Children

The App is intended for adults aged 18 years and above and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process the personal data of children.

10. Third-Party Services and Cross-Border Processing

We use Google's Firebase services (Analytics and Crashlytics) as service providers. Data they process may be transmitted to and stored on Google's infrastructure, which may be located outside India, and is subject to Google's data processing safeguards and applicable law.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share data with any other third parties.

11. Aadhaar and Tenant Data

The App allows you to keep records of your tenants, including Aadhaar numbers and Aadhaar card photos. This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Under the Aadhaar (Sharing of Information) Regulations and related UIDAI rules, you must: obtain the Aadhaar holder's informed consent before collecting their Aadhaar number; collect it only for a lawful purpose; store it securely; mask or redact the first 8 digits when storing copies of Aadhaar documents; and delete it once it is no longer needed. You are responsible for complying with these obligations and for obtaining your tenants' consent before storing their personal data in the App.

12. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a personal data breach affecting data we process, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected individuals as required under the DPDP Act and applicable law.

Because App data stays on your device, the most likely breach scenarios involve the loss or theft of your device. Please keep your device locked and your backups secure.

13. Grievance Officer and Redressal

Complaints about the App or this policy may be addressed to our Grievance Officer:

Response commitments: Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days (as per the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021), 30 days (as per consumer protection requirements), or 90 days (as per the DPDP Act), whichever applies. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India or another competent authority.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy, and, for significant changes, through the App or by email where possible. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

15. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or the App, contact us via the "Help / Support" section inside the App, or email support@valgravia.com.

4. Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, design, logo, and content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable laws. 7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and except as expressly provided below:

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence on our part, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of your use of the App, your data, your tenants' data, or your breach of these Terms or applicable law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it, after exporting any backups you wish to keep. We may terminate your access to the App or these Terms at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including those relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — will survive.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable consumer protection laws, any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India.
